History Of Magazines

Hello World! Today's blog will focus on the overall evolution of magazines.

Magazines have left a significant mark in the publishing industry since the time they were first created in 1741, according to sources from google. Germany, France, and the Netherlands lead the way in publishing forms of magazines long before Britain and America caught up. Magazines were introduced, but never became popular until the 18th century, and/or late 1700's.

The first successful magazine in the United States was The Saturday Evening Post. This magazine first began publishing weekly in 1821 and remained popular and in effect until 1969. In 1971 the magazine was bought by separate owners who then transformed it to a magazine related to health and medicine. this magazine also gained a lot of recognition being the first to have photographed covers.

Magazines weren't always available to everyone because the price wasnt affordable to lower income people. It wasnt until Cosmopolitan was released in 1886 at the expense of more people. This also played a major role in the popularity of magazines.

Throughout the 20th century, magazines have grown and expanded all over the world varying from sports, beauty, medical, news, business, etc.
